Age of six room house is approximately ninety years and constructions costs were about $500. It remains on original location, the second house north of St. Christopher’s Chapel, and has been owned by the Chapel since 1961. The front porch was removed and interior modernized by Bernard Mohlenhoff after his purchase of house from Wiebel family in 1933. Mr. Mohlenhoff paid $9,000 for the house and 11 acres of farm land, on which he grew garden vegetables. Ruth Thompson and Bernard Mohlenhoff were married in 1938, resided in house and continued farming till 1951, at which time they sold most of land to housing developer for $3,000 an acre. The house and remaining property sold to the Chapel in 1961. Figures on porch are Anna Wiebel Thompson and woman not identified. The Mohlenhoff’s comments aretaped for collection, RC76 1.
